Instructions

The purchase of tickets will always be done through a registered user. Your registration will also allow you to access the client private area, identifying yourself with your user name and password. From this area you can:

  • Consult the status of your purchases.

  • Modify your reservations as long as the payment for them has not yet been made.

  • Pay for your reservations.

  • Reprinting of the issue notes. Payment of the reservation must be made 7 days before the visit, otherwise the reservation will be automatically cancelled.

Tickets may be purchased between 7 days and 24 hours before the visit, but in this case, no reservation can be made and the tickets must be paid for directly.

The minimum number of persons for a group is 10. Only 8 reservations per use and day can be made.

On the day of the visit you must accredit the reservation.

Those who made the payment for the total amount of the purchase will be sent an issue note attached as a PDF file to the e-mail address provided.

Those that only made the reservation will receive a confirmation e-mail.

Important Information for School Bookings and Groups

Can I make a group booking?

Yes, "Dialogue in the Dark" and "Dialogue in Silence" can be visited with a group. The maximum group size for a tour for "Dialogue in the Dark" is 8 people / for "Dialogue in Silence" 12 people . If you come with a smaller group, for example 6, more people will be added to your group until the maximum number is reached.

For groups of 8 or 12 people, you can book an entire slot. For private events such as birthdays or company parties, simply contact us to plan a group visit.

Can I have a guided tour for my school group? Absolutely! The visit is designed to be accompanied by individual guides who will provide your group with important insights. This helps them to understand and engage with the material in a specific and didactic way.
What is the recommended age for this exhibition? Our experiences are designed to be accessible to children aged 8 and over. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

We offer "Kids in Dialogue" for younger children. This adventure exhibition is aimed at the very youngest (for children aged 3-7). Contact us for more information.
How can I pay the cost of the visit? When you make your reservation, you can choose to pay in advance by credit card or bank transfer.
What days are available for school visits?

All are available on weekdays and weekends. Most school groups visit us on weekdays in the morning hours.

Group Division:

The start times and number of people are listed in your booking. After check-in, you will be divided into these groups so that each participant knows when he/she starts for which tour.

The Experience

What can I expect from "Dialogue in the Dark"? "Dialogue in the Dark" is an immersive experience exhibition in which you are led through various everyday scenarios in complete darkness by blind or visually impaired guides. This unique experience allows you to experience everyday life and challenges from the perspective of a blind or visually impaired person, promoting understanding and empathy. Over a drink in the dark at the bar, you have the opportunity to ask all the questions that came up during the tour and gain deeper insights into life without visual perception.
Things to Keep in Mind for "Dialogue in the Dark":
  • Please avoid luminous objects (watch face, smartwatch), as well as bright garments and bags.
  • Please lock your jackets away or hang them up in the checkroom, as it is warm enough in the exhibition.
  • Please also lock away your glasses. There is no light at all in the exhibition, they will not be needed.
  • If someone refuses to take off their glasses, we are not liable for loss or damage.
  • Please do not take any food or chewing gum into the exhibition.
  • Please carry some loose change in your pocket (coins or bills up to €10) for the dark bar at the end of the tour. You can order something to drink or nibble there.
  • If something is lost in the dark, you can pick it up a day later at the earliest.
  • If the key to the locker is lost, the key will be searched for after the exhibition has closed.
What can I expect from "Dialogue in Silence"? Embark on a very special experience with "Dialogue in Silence". It is an immersive, interactive experience that takes place in complete silence. It is led by deaf guides and offers you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and communication style of the deaf community. Equipped with soundproof headphones, you will go on the tour through various experience stations where you will learn how facial expressions, gestures and signs enrich everyday life and how communication can be deep and expressive even without words. At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity to ask your guide questions with the help of a sign language interpreter and to go deeper into the exchange to learn more about everyday life and the lives of deaf people.
Things to Keep in Mind for "Dialogue in Silence":
  • You will wear soundproof headphones in the exhibition. We recommend removing larger earrings in advance.
  • You must have optimal vision during the exhibition, even over a few meters. If you have glasses, please take them with you.
  • You cannot access the locker during the tour.
  • Please be quiet on the tour and do not talk.
  • Warning: There are flashes of light in the first room (similar to a photo flash).
  • If someone has epilepsy, for example, and needs to skip this part of the exhibition, please let us know before the start of the tour.
  • Please do not use the lockers in the foyer.
  • Dialogue in Silence has its own lockers on the 1st floor.
  • You will be picked up by the guide before the start of the tour and taken to the lockers.

How do I get to the venue? The following stops are in the immediate vicinity:
  • Subway line U1, Meßberg stop, Wandrahmsteg exit
  • Bus route 3, bus stop at St. Annen
  • Central station, approx. 10 minutes on foot
Is there a parking lot? The Dialoghaus does not offer parking spaces. Please note that our building is located on a one-way street (Alter Wandrahm). The best way to reach us from the east is via Oberbaumbrücke. You will find the following parking garages nearby:

  • Parking garage Deichtorhallen (Oberbaumbrücke 1)
Does the experience take place indoors or outdoors? The experience takes place indoors.
How long does the experience last? The experience lasts about 1 hour.
Are food and drinks available for purchase? Part of the "Dialogue in the dark" tour is our dark bar, where you can purchase drinks (at the end of the experience). You can view the drinks menu here. Before and after the experience, drinks are also available at the box office in the foyer.
Will there be virtual reality? No, the experience does not include virtual reality.
Is there a dress code? No, there is no dress code. A casual look that you feel comfortable in is fine.

Accessibility

Do I have to arrive at the beginning of my booked time slot? Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your booked time slot for check-in. Check-in at the box office is possible up to 20 minutes before the start of the tour.
Can I leave the experience at any time if I feel unwell? Yes, if you feel unwell during the experience, you can leave at any time. Our guide is always in the same room. Alert the staff and you will be escorted out into the light as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, it is not possible to re-enter the experience, we ask for your understanding.
Can I bring animals with me? Are service dogs allowed? Service animals cannot be present, as this experience takes place in the dark. This is to protect both the animals and you.
Are there tickets for caregivers? Guests who require assistance during this experience can request a free ticket for their personal caregiver. All that’s required is proof at the entrance and the caregiver will receive free admission.
Are chairs available? Can I sit down during the experience/exhibition? It's a circular walk, but if you need a little break, you'll find a few seats where you can rest.
Are there toilets on site? Yes, there are toilets. There is an accessible toilet in the foyer on the first floor.
Is there a lost & found office? We recommend that you ask the staff at the venue if your belongings have been found. If you are unable to ask on site, please contact us.

Is there any way I can prepare for this experience? No special preparation is necessary. Visit us with an open mind and the willingness to embark on a unique experience. Our experienced guides will lead you safely through the darkness.
Are there people or elements in the dark room that are meant to scare you?

No, the "Dialogue in the Dark" tour focuses on the experience in the dark, not on scaring you. There are no hidden actors or shock elements.

Of course, you may accidentally come into contact with other people or objects in the dark. We therefore recommend that you move slowly and carefully. You will receive instructions and information safely and reliably from your guide. So you can enjoy the adventure in peace.

What do I need to bring to the tour? Are any aids provided? You don't need any special items for the "Dialogue in the Dark" tour. Everything else, including long poles, is provided by us as part of the experience.
Is the experience barrier-free?

As the experience takes place in complete darkness and relies mainly on auditory elements, it is unfortunately not suitable for deaf people.

Access to the experience is barrier-free for wheelchair users. To make your visit as smooth as possible, we ask you to register in advance with our visitor service, ideally up to 2 days before your visit.

Toilet: An accessible toilet is located in the foyer on the first floor.

Can I take part if I am blind or visually impaired? Absolutely! "Dialogue in the Dark" offers a platform for encounters and exchanges between blind/visually impaired people and sighted people. It is a great opportunity to change perspectives and learn from the experiences of others.
Is there an age limit? We recommend the experience for children aged 8 and over.

Additional Information on "Dialogue in Silence"

Do I need previous knowledge of sign language? No, previous knowledge of sign language is not required. You will be introduced to the basics of sign language and playfully learn how to communicate without spoken words - a challenge that is very fascinating. Our guides are experts in promoting comprehensible communication. The focus here is on the playful experience of engaging with the world in complete silence .
Can I take part if I am deaf or hard of hearing? Absolutely! "Dialogue in Silence" offers a platform for encounters and exchanges between hearing and non-hearing people. It is a great opportunity to experience the diversity of communication and to learn from the experiences of others.
Is "Dialogue in Silence" barrier-free?

As the experience takes place in complete silence and relies mainly on visual elements, it is not entirely suitable for blind/visually impaired people.

Important note: The experience takes place on the 1st floor. Access is possible via a stairlift. Your wheelchair may be a maximum of 110 cm long and may not exceed a total weight of 120 kg. Please bring your own wheelchair harness. Our trained staff will explain how the stairlift works before the ride. Allow around 20-30 minutes, longer if there are several wheelchair users. For safety reasons, guests who are prone to jerky movements should not be transported on the stairlift. Our visitor service will contact you to ensure that nothing stands in the way of your visit.
